Drs. Carpuat, Marton, and Habash Receive Award at TALN Conference, Montreal

Marine Carpuat, Yuval Marton and Nizar Habash received one of the two best paper awards at TALN 2010, the 17th "Conférence sur le Traitement Automatique des Langues Naturelles" (Conference on Natural Language Processing), which was held in Montréal from July 19 to 23, 2010.


The paper, entitled "Reordering Matrix Post-verbal Subjects for Arabic-to-English SMT", proposes a new approach to reliably improve Arabic-to-English statistical machine translation using Arabic syntax, and is based upon work supported by DARPA under the GALE program.
