CCLS research applications demo series - TPO (Total Property Optimizer), part of the Digital Building Operating System Solution(Di-Boss)
In the first event of the series showacasing the research applications developed at CCLS, the session will be featuring the Total Property Optimizer (TPO), which is part of a commercial product offering, Di-BOSS (Digital Building Operating System Solution, from Selex ES http://www.selex-es.com/domains/smart/energy-management/di-boss). This was developed by Dr. Roger Anderson's Smart Energy group.
The TPO delivers recommendations that enable commercial building managers to make proactive, energy-efficient decisions. Di-BOSS continuously commissions buildings integrating data from multiple building systems, and ambient and forecast weather conditions. TPO relies on support vector regression and extremely randomized trees to model the building's thermodynamics and predict energy consumption. TPO also uses SVM classifiers to generate building HVAC start-up/ramp-down recommendations. On top of our models, we use approximate dynamic programming to optimize operational decisions, such as when preheat a building's hot water heating system during the winter. Actionable data and analyses are presented in a real time control panel for building managers. Both TPO and Do-BOSS will be demonstrated live.
