She received her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2007. Prior to that, she received her MS in Computer and Information Science from Temple University, Philadelphia (2002) and the Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering (BCSE) from Jadavpur University (Kolkata,India) in 1999. She also worked for an year at iGate Global Solutions (Chennai, India) -- a company specializing in software solutions for clients like GE Medical, NBC. Her research interests include distributed and scientific data mining, grid and peer-to-peer (p2p) systems, data stream mining in resource constrained devices. She has been the recipient of several awards including the Dr B. C. Roy Scholarship for academic excellence (1993 - 1994) and the UMBC Graduate Dissertation Fellowship (2007).
